250 GTE 2+2
Class: The Prancing Horses
Owner: Willie Stanley Edwards Jr
Hometown: Florence, SC
The 1961 Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 was Ferrari’s first truly successful four-seat grand tourer, combining classic V12 performance with everyday comfort. Styled by Pininfarina, it was powered by a 3.0-liter Colombo V12 producing around 240 horsepower and featured modern touches for the era, including disc brakes. Prototypes of the GTE 2+2 served as course cars at the 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans before the model made its official debut at the 1960 Paris Motor Show. Nearly 1,000 were built by 1963, making it one of Ferrari’s most important and profitable early road cars. With usable rear seats, elegant design, and the sound and speed Ferrari was known for, the 250 GTE helped bridge the gap between the company’s racing heritage and luxury touring cars—and remains highly valued today.
