1974 Lancia

Stratos
Class: European Thoroughbreds
Owner: Alain Degraeve
Hometown: Miami, FL
The 1974 Lancia Stratos is a legendary, purpose-built rally car, styled by Bertone’s Marcello Gandini and powered by a mid-mounted Ferrari Dino V6 that helped deliver Lancia’s first World Rally Championship in 1974. This exceptional example was originally sold directly by the factory to the royal family of Dubai and spent much of its life in the Middle East before traveling worldwide with an expat owner wherever he was including New Zealand, Dubai, and beyond, before it ultimately settled in England in a climate-controlled bubble. Acquired about a year and a half ago for its remarkable state of preservation, the car has been carefully cleaned but never restored. With just 35,000 original kilometers, roughly 90 percent original paint, a largely original interior, a matching drivetrain, and extensive documentation, it is regarded as one of the most original Stratos in existence.
