Following the success of the third annual Heritage Invitational, Speedway Motorsports announced today that motorsports and automotiveicon Ray Evernham has been named Executive Director of the prestigious event.

This year’s expanded three-day event marked the debut of the exclusive Ten Tenths Motor Club at Charlotte Motor Speedway, elevating the Heritage Invitational’s status alongside the world’s premier automotive gatherings such as Goodwood, The Amelia and Pebble Beach.

“Ray’s dedication to bringing our vision for the Heritage Invitational to life has been nothing short of extraordinary,” said Speedway Motorsports President and CEO Marcus Smith. “His passion for people and all things automotive, from vintage racing to cutting-edge innovation, resonates in every element of the event. As we look to the future, with Ray’s leadership, we know we’re in good hands to continue building on this incredible momentum.”

Few names are as synonymous with automotive excellence over the last 40 years as Evernham. The three-time NASCAR Cup Series championship crew chief, innovative team owner and motorsports analyst has had an equally impressive run restoring vintage vehicles and telling automotive stories from the past as host of Velocity’s AmeriCarna and NBCSN’s Glory Road.

The NASCAR Hall of Famer has been instrumental in the Heritage’s meteoric rise since its inception. Evernham’s vision introduced crowd favorites like Historic Trans Am Series racing and a Pro-Am competition. This year’s Heritage also added new charitable components, raising more than $275,000 for Speedway Children’s Charities.

“The opportunity to work with Speedway Motorsports to put on the Heritage is something I couldn’t pass up,” said Evernham. “This team reminds me a lot of my time working on the No. 24 car as a crew chief for Hendrick Motorsports. They have a vision for what this event can be and an insatiable drive to be best-in-class. I’m thrilled to continue working to bring that vision to life for years to come.”

Speedway Motorsports also confirmed the fourth annual Heritage Invitational will return to the Ten Tenths Motor Club April 10-11, 2026.
